Although I am not trying to tempt myself with sweets and tasty treats while on prep - I am also not one to demand that everyone around me do the same. In fact, I get just as much satisfaction out of watching Al and Jack eating something yummy as I would if I ate it myself, especially if it was created in my kitchen. That being said, I also believe that healthy food IS a treat - so when I'm whipping up some creation in the kitchen I'm keeping that in mind, especially when it comes to desserts or sweet bites.

I love chickpeas as a power food. They are packed with nutrients, protein and fibre. Chickpeas are versatile when using them to cook with. They can be baked into a salty treat, whipped into delicious dips, thrown naked into salads, stir-fried, squished into wraps and made into and added to all sorts of chow.
Now to satisfy that sweet tooth - while wearing a bikini...
Chocolate Chick Power Puffs
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F an in a food processor or blender add the following:
1.5 cups of rinsed and drained organic chickpeas
1 cup of vital wheat gluten (you can use other types of flour but vital wheat gluten adds the protein and a chewy texture - yum!)
2 scoops of vanilla protein (I used Vega Vanilla & Greens)
1 tablespoon of nut butter (I used sunflower seed butter because its a bit sweeter than the other guys)
1/4 tablespoon of nutritional yeast
1 ripe banana (I like using bananas instead of sweeteners when I bake)
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 cup & 1 tablespoon of water
Blend well into a doughy texture, transfer to a mixing bowl and manually stir in 1/4 cup of vegan chocolate chips.
Using ~ 1.5 tablespoons scoops of dough, roll them into balls - soon to be adorable puffs - and place on a baking pan lined with parchment paper. You get about 13 puffs. Bake for 13 minutes. (13 balls, 13 minutes.... what does it all mean!? **I'm not actually that weird)
Macros per puff: Protein: 12g, Carb: 8g, Fat: 1.4g, Calories: 98
HINT: Store these little cuties in the fridge so they last longer if you aren't the type to mindlessly eat them all, while you watch your baby and dog share chew toys, like I did.
